Selman Intermediate kicked off election week with a bang. Monday, every student voted in an online mock election with students from across the nation. On Tuesday, we were treated by a special visit from State Representative, Lois Kolkhorst who spoke to the students about voting rights and responsibilities. Our results are in, and Selman Intermediate elected Barak Obama as our president. Our voting was consistent with students across Texas as well as across the nation.

 Selman Intermediate will be kicking off our 100 Book Challenge Reading program on October 27th. Students who read do better in school. This program is unique because students are rewarded for the time they spend reading. There are no tests or quizzes- kids just need to be reading an hour a day at home and at school. Encourage your child to READ READ READ!

 Selman Intermediate students raised over $400.00 to donate to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief fund. A check has been made out to the American Red Cross and submitted in the name of the students of Maggie B. Selman Intermediate. Thanks to those who donated to such a worthy cause. Not only does it help our neighbors in need, it teaches our students to reach out to others in times of need.
